bossy hair kicked off the silly season with our annual apprentice showcase with a more-than-fabulous fashion and hair display in the uber cool surrounds of Kelvin Grove's Urban Village - right in the heart of QUT's Creative Industries Precinct.
Our amazing bossy apprentices rocked it and put on a great show. Incorporating hair and fashion from different musical eras, the apprentices were also very clever in raising over $2000 (in a few hours) for their chosen charity, the Leukaemia Foundation!
After we all visited the Leukaemia Foundation's Mincom Village - a 'home away from home' for patients, carers and their families who have to temporarily relocate for specialist treatment - we decided to put our money towards buying an outside bench for their patients to sit on and enjoy the peaceful environment of the Village.
A feel-good, love-in night was had by all. A big heartfelt thanks to all that contributed - and there were many of you that kindly donated your time skills and energy - particularly our night's sponsors Chop Shop Butchers, QUT Creative Industries and Gerbinos Pasticceria & Bakery - all from Urban Village Kelvin Grove.

Our showcase night was showcased in popular online publication Culture Magazine.

bossy artistic team were lucky enough to shoot the new range of beautiful wedding dresses for the mystery winner of Project Runway's new range - stay tuned... (to be released in the June edition of Weddings Weddings Weddings).
The team travelled to a beautiful haunted mansion in the foothills of Toowoomba to shoot the most beautiful party and wedding dresses for one of the recent winners of Project Runway's foray into the world of gorgeous wedding frocks. We were also lucky enough to do another shoot with the most amazing upstyles ever in a fantasy shoot for Weddings Weddings Weddings. Think Cinderella, The Wicked Witch of The West in black, rose red in an incredible bright red gown.
Thanks to Robert from R&R Creative Photography, Kymberly Louise for her impeccable styling, and the most beautiful makeup we have ever seen from Carla Sakrzewski at Lash Creative. The artistic team was made up of Jae at Aspley, Ashley, Shannon and Cindy from Middle Park, Jay and Gemma from Brisbane Airport. Keep a look out for Gemma's beautiful do on the front cover of the mag due out in June! Thanks guys, it was a hoot working with you, we were really pushed creatively with the gazillion hairpieces and the crazy yet beautiful do's for our fantasy shoot, xxxx.
Our end of year Christmas soiree celebrating ten years of bossy magic was amazing! With our circus theme, and mad hatters tea party table settings, the night was certainly a night to remember.
The artistic team presented a catwalk of gorgeous hair and gorgeous fashions from Daniel Alexander, thread and bone, and the beautiful la la la trobe.
Our glamorous guests were treated to champagne cocktails on arrival, fairy floss and popcorn. After socializing like crazy guests were then escorted through to the fantasy dining room, a room furnished with circus lights, ten foot tall lollipops, huge blue sequinned fish, and large pink flamingos (amongst other things). The amazing polytoxic dancers impressed us with silk strand acrobatics (think Pink hanging from the ceiling) and death defying acts throughout the night.
Our auction raised a staggering $4000 to aid in funds for children with leukemia. In all it was an absolutely fabulous night. Thanks to all that came and celebrated with us.

Michele McGahan from Bossy Hair Windsor was awarded finalist in the Wella Trend Vision contest for 2009. Her stunning model Erin looked so beautiful and both travelled to Sydney to compete with the leading stylists from around Australia with Mark Trron, Michele's favourite makeup artist and stylist in town. We hear she is entering again this year with a vengeance. Good luck Michele!

bossy hair artistic team were lucky enough to go backstage to do hair, and meet the amazing Celine Dion and her team of backup singers and dancers.
"It was a fantastic experience, they were all delightful and we were so surprised at how most of them had been working for the divine Ms D. for 15years +." Sadly we were unable to take any paparazzi shots, but we will remember those amazing young dancers (muscular chests) for years to come. We were able to take shots of the dancers without their shirts on but alas unable to show them on our website.
Great concert, beautiful hair, gorgeous people! Thanks Celine xx
Recently the artistic team were lucky enough to do a photographic shoot in Sydney with the beautiful Philosophy clothing range. The shots were taken at a stunning historical home. The artistic team spent a full day creating a myriad of different looks on the two gorgeous models. Thanks to Katrina, Caroline, Glen, and Courtney from bossy for their good humour, creativity and the hot hair they created. Makeup was by Mish mash makeup. The photography by the amazing Christophe Sachs. Thanks again to all those involved, especially the gorgeous Rosemary!
Recently the B105 morning crew formed their band "Stavulous" (Camilla, Labrat, Stav and Tash the newsreader). The bossy artistic team were lucky enough to assist with the hair and makeup for the album cover, ekka concert and concert tour.
Thanks to Amy for amazing makeup, adam from Milton, Courtz from Spring Hill, Emma from Windsor, Caroline from Cannon Hill for the amazing job. What fun we had, and how lovely are the B105 crew. Thanks to everybody! We had a ball (especially at the after party.)
Every year the apprentices from bossy hair, get a night to showcase their individual hairdressing skills on the catwalk. Each bossy salon is represented by a five minute catwalk show - presented soley by their apprentices. The standard has been incredibly high over the last few years.
So far we have held our end of year soirees at the beautiful Herston golf course marquee, and last year at GPO in the Valley. This year will be no exception with an inner city uber-cool surprise venue to be advised. There is much to be done, models to be organised, wardrobe, makeup, a catwalk to be erected, sound, lighting, guests and cocktail menus to be organised.
Stay tuned for our October show....

In support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, each year the Kym Walters choices charity hold a special event to acknowledge the courage of the women, men and their families affected by breast and gynaecological cancer. The annual Choices Fashion Parade was held at St Lucia.Golf Club. Prominent fashion houses contributed to the evening and all models were breast or gynaecological cancer survivors. As you can imagine, this presents an enormous challenge for people, but signifies a celebration of life.
450 people attended this year. This achievement and the success of the evening was amazing and very, very inspirational mostly due to the generous contributions and donations from companies and individuals.
Bossy hair was so proud to be a part of this sensational night. Doing all the models hair, wig fluffing and makeup with the help of the bossy artistic team was probably the highlight of all our celebrity hairdressing experiences! We have never laughed cried or clapped so hard in one night!
Watching husbands blow kisses to their wives up on stage and seeing fellow cancer sufferers start a Mexican wave in the crowd helped us to realise how precious life is. Be kind, dance often and help others whenever you can. See you next year at Saint Lucia Golf Course!
Amanda Thorpe from our Yeronga salon has been chosen as a finalist in the Affinage Australasian Colour competition. Her beautiful winning entry will appear in the next edition of Instyle Magazine, and Amanda now gains a place on Affinages fame team! BIG CONGRATULATIONS!
Amy, also from the Yeronga salon gained a runner up prize also. Well done Yeronga!
Our extravaganza cocktail event at Byblos restaurant on Portside; complete with delectable food, cocktails and alot of bubbles to celebrate finding the face of bossy. A catwalk show was held at the divine restaurant; backing onto the Brisbane river. Showcasing gorgeous fashion from highway seven, and sporting some fabulous hair do's created by the bossy artistic team the models who had all had no previous experience were true professionals. From 65 finalists we were eventually to find out who was to be the face of bossy.
Over 400 attended despite a torrential downpour, and the night was hailed an absolute success. Everybody looked incredibly glamorous on the orange carpet, & lots of media were present. With social pics in all of Brisbanes glossys (Image, Style, Bris News, City News and Mx magazine) as well as in the Sunday Mail, you all looked fantastic!
The twins Mercedes and Madeline were the ultimate winners taking home $5000, a modelling contract and a year's supply of free hair at bossy!
Have a look at some of the images from the 'face of bossy" finalists on our home page, they look fabulous!
